Policy Statement

Arrival Time: Check-in time is between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. For check-in at other times please contact us at 515-292-2474.

Departure Time: Check-out time is 11 a.m. If you need extra time, we will make every effort to accommodate you, but please make prior arrangements with us. After check-out you are welcome to continue parking in our lot if you would like to spend additional time in Campustown.

Parking: We have private off-street parking to accommodate all guests

Rates: Rates are for single or double occupancy and include our Gourmet Country Breakfast. There is a charge of $15 for each additional guest which includes breakfast. Some of our rooms will accommodate an additional air-mattress-style bed for which there is a $25 charge. Our guests may arrange with us for others to join them for breakfast for a $10 charge. Children are included in the guest count. Guest room rates are subject to the 5% State of Iowa excise tax plus a 7% hotel-motel tax (total12%). All rates are subject to change without notice.

Minimum Nights Stay: For certain special events like football weekends, VEISHEA or ISU graduation(s) we may require two or three-night stays. If a minimum nights stay is required, that information will be displayed at time of booking your reservation.

Meals: Our Gourmet Country Breakfast is included in the rate for guests. Guests of guests are welcome for $10.00 per person. Please notify the innkeeper in advance. We can arrange to serve group meals by prior arrangement. We are also able to assist in arranging catering services.

Living Room, Dining Room and Chapter Room: Our common rooms are designated for use by all Iowa House guests. Guests with a reasonable purpose may request at least one day in advance and in our sole discretion we may agree to rent one or more of these rooms for exclusive use. Such rental periods are not to exceed five hours and shall occur only between the hours of 9 AM and finishing no later than 9 PM. Please inquire about rental charges.

Children: The Iowa House is not child-proof! Well-behaved children are welcome but must be under adult supervision at all times. Children do count as a room occupant for rate purposes. Any damage is the responsibility of the parents or accompanying adults. We suggest that parents with children book loft suites 301 or 303, each of which have a spiral staircase to a loft with a full-size futon that sleeps two. Each loft has its own flat screen TV where DVD players and game systems can be used!

Pets: We regret that we are unable to accommodate pets.

Smoking: We are a non-smoking property. Smoking inside the Inn will result in an immediate request to leave, in addition to any damage fees, a cleaning fee of $250 will be automatically billed to the credit card.

Payment: We accept cash, traveler checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Reservation Policy: We require a deposit equal to 100% of the quoted rate plus tax. You may use a credit card to book and pay online.

Cancellation Policy: Please note that our Reservation and Cancellation Policies are a vital part of managing a small inn.

On most days and weekends of the year: If you give us 15 or more days notice, we will cancel your reservation and refund your deposit(s), less a $25 service charge per room. Within 14 days and up to two days before your arrival date a $25 service charge per room will apply and we will refund the balance of your deposit if we are able to re-rent the room for the same rate. If you cancel after 6 p.m. two days prior to your arrival date, you will lose your deposit for the entire stay. Early departures and "No-Shows" are regarded as cancellations.

Special Events: For special events like football weekends, VEISHEA and graduation(s), or when you or your party reserve more than one room, we will refund your deposit, less a $25 service charge, provided that you give more than 30 days notice. Within 30 days, and up to two days before your arrival date, the $25 service charge per room will apply and we will refund the balance of your deposit(s) if we are able to re-rent the room for the same rate. If you cancel after 6 p.m. two days prior to your arrival date, you will lose your deposit for the entire stay. Early departures and "No Shows" are regarded as cancellations.

Extended Stay Discount: Guests staying 31 continuous nights pay no state sales tax or hotel-motel tax and may receive up to a 40% discount off the regular rate. Extended stays must be paid in advance and the discount will be applied when the reservation is booked. Please call us for booking assistance.
